  • 2002 Season in Review
  • Looking Ahead to 2003
With the 2002 season officially in the record book, the No. 54 Featherlite Modified Series, NASCAR Touring team has much to reflect on. During just their first full-season effort, they finished an impressive 19th in the season-long points championship - out of a total of 99 drivers. More telling, the team - comprised of relative FMS newcomers - showed steady progress as the season evolved.
Looking to build on what they have learned, crew members are already hard at work readying equipment to compete in the full 2003 FMS schedule. For 2003, they'll again run 'S&S'cars, with 'Performance Engines by Billy the Kid'providing the horsepower. While specifics regarding sponsorship are not yet being released, they anticipate the return of many longtime supporters - A&A OFFICE SYSTEMS, TIERNEY BROS., PORTLAND TRANSMISSIONand SPACE FITTERS.

    About Dave

At sixteen years-of-age, Dave began his racing career in the Pure Stock division at the Waterford Speedbowl. In 1993, after countless trips to victory lane, Dave moved to Stafford Motor Speedway's Pro Stock division. In just his freshman year, he captured his first win, earned the 'Rookie of the Year' honors and was voted 'Most Popular Driver.'

Dave remained a contender in the Pro Stock ranks through the 1998 racing season. In his six, impressive years behind the wheel of a Pro Stock, he celebrated feature victories at New Smyrna, Stafford, Thompson and Waterford Speedways; consistently finished in the top-ten in the seasonal point standings - tying for the Stafford title in 1994; was distinguished as Thompson's 'Most Improved Driver' and received two additional 'Most Popular Driver' awards at Stafford.

In 1999, after gaining some seat time at the now defunct Riverside Park Speedway, Dave advanced to the highly competitive NASCAR Featherlite Modified Series. Dave was able to enjoy a great deal of success traveling with the FMS in 1999 and 2000 - gaining valuable experience and earning the respect of his fellow competitors.

For the 2001 season, Dave has two innovative NASCAR FMS racers in his stable. He will be joining the series on all of their tour stops up and down the east coast - from New Hampshire International Speedway in Loudon, NH to Richmond International Raceway in Richmond, VA.

Born on September 11, 1970, Dave is lifelong resident of Portland, Connecticut. Dave, along with his brother Donn, owns Portland Transmission - a successful, full-service transmission repair business. When not working or racing, he enjoys spending time on his boat and playing pool.
